Every aspect of the day had become a method of torture. Very painful for the young Purcărea was the obligation to sit all day in a fixed position, on the edge of the bed with his hands on his knees and his eyes fixed on the tip of his boots.
At the slightest movement, he was struck by the sentry that was watching him.
Sometimes, he was made to rub the floor of the room while he was carrying one or even two colleagues on his back. Other times, the aggressors forced him to do push-ups to exhaustion, each waiver being a pretext to beat him again.
However, perhaps the most painful experience was being forced to look helplessly as his colleagues were being tortured next to him, thinking at the same time that he might be next.
