After the shock of the beatings, Nicolae Purcărea experienced the second stage of the violent action: the unmasking. The aggressors committee, led by Alexandru Mărtiunş, asked him to confess everything he had hidden during the Securitate's investigation.

Interrogations were intertwined with beatings on the soles that caused deafening pain in the whole body. Like many of the students tortured, Nicolae Purcărea fainted several times because of pain, but that was only a brief relief until the next beating.
