In the following days, Ștefan and his colleagues witnessed the torture of another group of inmates who had already been beaten, and now were going through the unmasking, confessing the details they had hidden from the Securitate, and then renouncing all the ideals they had held so dear. Ștefan’s group was the only one left.

Waiting to be summoned by the aggressors’ committee, Ștefan Davidescu watched powerlessly as his three friends were cruelly beaten, their bodies slashed. Moreover, his cousin Mihai was so violently tortured that he almost died, being resurrected by the same members of the aggressors’ committee. After several other days of torture, Mihai's wounds start infecting and the same aggressors perform an ad hoc surgery on him.

When his turn came to face the aggressors committee, Ștefan realized that Mihai Livinschi, his quarantine cell friend, had given them much of the information they knew. He refused to sell out his brother George, out who was still free, so he was fiercely beaten.
