In the quarantine cell, Ștefan Davidescu befriended Mihai Livinschi, one of the students he found inside the cell. Mihai talked to Ștefan about his ex-lovers and the brother he had brought in the Legionary Movement, while Ștefan shared with him the relief he felt having hidden information about his brother George during interrogation. The atmosphere was an effervescent one: discussions on literature, learning foreign languages, memorizing poems by Radu Gyr and Nichifor Crainic. Mihai and Dory would sometimes hear screams, but Ștefan thought it was a mere exaggeration of his friends.

A few days later, the group was transferred to room 3-church (a room that initially functioned as a chapel). They sensed something odd in the cell, as some of the prisoners had a strange behavior and they looked absent.
