King Charles II addressing the Parliament
1939 - King Charles II, Grand Voivode Michael, Prime Minister Armand Călinescu and Patriarch Miron Cristea on the steps of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Bucharest.
King Charles II
Although many of his colleagues sympathized with the Legionary Movement, which had here one of the most active organizations, Ștefan never felt attracted to “green shirts”, even though he too had strong anticommunist views, being aware that communism would have disastrous effects on Romanian society.
For him, the only accepted model was that of a Western democracy, where freedom and pluralism were essential to a functioning society. He loved the country and wished for a preservation of the borders of Great Romania. He was a strong supporter of the future King Mihai.
