Ștefan Davidescu was born on 27 December 1927 in a relatively wealthy family of merchants from Ploiești. His father, Ioan Davidescu, was the administrator of the Țugulea building in the center of the village, an old inn turned hotel.
This was a very popular place in the city, because every October the autumn fair was organized in its backyard, a joyous and fun event for all the inhabitants of Ploiesti.
